Dhamma Dipa School (Residential)
Covered by dense forest
and high hills, the South District of Tripura State, close to the
Indo-Bangladesh International border, is home to various minority
communities such as Chakma, Mog and Tripuri. There is no proper
transportation and communication facility; there are even many
villages where electricity has not yet reached. Most of the people
are living below the poverty line deprived of basic human rights.
Since education is the backbone of any society, education is very
much needed to uplift this deprived community. It will give the
children of Tripura State a future and will contribute to the
preservation of the cultural heritage of these indigenous groups.
The inadequacy of a proper scholastic and holistic educational
institution prompted the Bahujana Hitaya
Education Trust, a Non-profit Public Charitable Body,
the brainchild behind, to set up the institution named Dhamma Dipa School.
Dhamma Dipa School is a Residential
School established in 2002 and run by BAHUJANA HITAYA EDUCATION
TRUST at Manu Bankul, Sabroom, South Tripura, INDIA. Bahujana
Hitaya Education Trust (BHET) is a non-profit Public Charitable
Body established on 15th June, 1998 and registered
under Indian Trust Act, 1882, in
2001 and Foreign Contribution
(Regulation) Act, 1976 in 2002. The same (BHET) is also
registered under Society Registration
Act, 1860 and has 80G(5)(VI) Income Tax Exemption registered under the IT
Act, 1961.
This Charitable Body (BHET) lays
special emphasis on girls’ education and promotion of tribal
culture. Efforts are also being made to improve socio-economic status of
tribal women by providing training in various vocational courses.
In brief, this Charitable Body (BHET)
is working towards socio-economic upliftment of poor tribals and
other backward communities through education.
